CHALLENGE

From soup to nuts, we were tasked with developing the name and brand for a new, Indigenous-owned coffee company, including initial packaging designs that are dynamic, showcase Indigenous art and culture, and are fully market and export ready. Must also include the flexibility to accommodate future expansion of the product line, seamlessly integrate different artwork and art styles, and incorporate specific Indigenous cultural elements for expansion into additional communities across Canada.

Approach and Solution

Our approach was holistic and deeply collaborative, involving close cooperation with our client, Yukon-based knowledge keepers and artists to ensure authenticity and cultural respect. Once the scope of the product offering was determined, we developed a strategy that included branding, naming, and packaging which led us to the discovery that the logo itself should be de-accentuated and the artwork would become the focal point of packaging. We then moved through conceptualization, brand development, and into the creation of marketing and sales assets to fast-track distribution and facilitate the in-market launch, in under six months.
